Are you gaining weight and you just don’t know why? Here are 5 things that Team Beachbody Coach Joe Malone suggests looking at.
- Have you ever tried, I mean REALLY tried to lose weight, but it just didn’t work? You found a program that sounded good, you stuck with it, but you didn’t lose weight. Maybe you are even gaining weight. Cortisol may be the cause. Our bodies are amazing things. We really were designed with a plethora of incredible features. Cortisol is one of those features. This chemical is released in times of stress. In a nut shell, it helps your body stores extra fat. This can definitely come in handy if you are in a life threatening situation, such as being stranded somewhere. Unfortunately, many of us get stressed over, well, everything. That results in cortisol being released, which leads to you gaining weight, not losing it like you are trying to do. Beginning a weight loss program can actually be stressful, which is why many people experience this at the beginning. If you stick with it though, and are able to lower your stress levels, you will overcome this problem, and start seeing results.
- I’m barely eating! Why would you gain weight if you are barely eating? Hello cortisol my old friend! Remember, cortisol is releases when your body feels in danger. It is a survival mechanism. Well, if you are not eating, what is your body thinking? It thinks that it better do something to store up some fat, since it doesn’t know when you are going to start eating right. DO NOT starve yourself. If you are serious about getting healthy, focus on proper nutrition and exercise. If you have no idea where to start, check out The Team Beachbody Challenge.
- I was losing weight for awhile, but now it stopped. The plateau is a very common word in the fitness world. It is when you have been improving, but suddenly your improvements stop. This is caused by your body adapting to your workouts. You are no longer forcing your body to work as hard, so you stop losing weight. Many people get discouraged at this point, which leads to quitting, which leads to weight gain. Mix up your workouts, mix up the intensity, and break through the plateau!
- My friend and I are doing the same things but she is losing weight and I’m not! We are all made differently, period! Your body react differently to situation A than your friends does. There are a ton of reasons that this happens, but one thing remains true. If it isn’t working, make a change! People will keep doing a workout that is not giving them any benefits. That may not be what your body needs right now. Mix it up, try something different, and stay focused. Beachbody has a TON of different programs for you to check out.
