Is It Possible To Reverse Diabetes?
This is a question that is asked more and more each day. Why? Because diabetes is an epidemic, and it is overtaking the lives of people around the world. In the United States alone, there are nearly 20 million diagnosed people out there, and an estimated 7 million non diagnosed. Those 2 numbers add up to over 8% of the US population. That is scary!
Many people think about diabetes, and they do not think that it is something they need to worry about. They believe that they are either not going to get it, or if they do, so what, it is just a shot here and there. Many people see that their family members are diabetic, and they believe that they are destined to get the disease too, so they do not even try to take care of themselves.

DIABETES IS A LIFESTYLE DISEASE!! The reason that type 2 diabetes has reached epidemic levels is because we do not take care of ourselves. We eat unhealthy foods, and live sedentary lifestyles. We make excuses why we don’t eat healthy, and why we don’t exercise. HERE IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL! Diabetes is a serious disease, with serious side effects, and YOU have the power to stop t, or if you already have it, YES, YOU CAN REVERSE DIABETES!!

Why is it so important to take care of your body? What exactly can diabetes do to you?
The most common thing that people think about when they think diabetes is that they might end up needing to take a shot. OK, not the end of the world. Some people have no problem with that. Well, if that was it, Medicaid would not be on pace to go bankrupt thanks to diabetes.
– Heart disease
– Stroke
– Kidney Disease
– Complications with pregnancy
Those are some of the first things that come to people minds when they find out that they have diabetes. Unfortunately, there is much more to it. When you have too much glucose in your system, it floats around in your blood stream. Think of the glucose like sand, floating around inside of you. As it travels through your system, it makes little scratches in your blood vessels. Your body, doing what it is supposed to do, repairs those scratches, creating scar tissue. As you get more and more scratches, you build up more and more scar tissue. Eventually, that begins to limit the amount of blood that can get to certain parts of the body. Less blood means less oxygen. That leads to a whole new set of problems.
– Loss of vision
– Loss of limbs
There are blood vessels in your eyes. As they become damaged from diabetes, your vision begins to suffer. People often begin to see black spots, and often times, lose their vision completely. Your limbs are also at risk. Tens of thousands of amputations occur yearly on diabetics. Usually, it starts with losing a toe or 2, and often leads to losing a leg or 2. This is why it is so important to prevent or reverse diabetes.
This article started with a question. Is it possible to reverse diabetes. The answer is YES!

OK, now that leads us to another important question. HOW DO YOU REVERSE DIABETES?
Earlier I mentioned that diabetes is a lifestyle disease. Well, there is your answer. There are 2 key components that you need to focus on.
1 – Nutrition
2 – Exercise
By combining proper nutrition with the right exercise program, it is possible to reverse diabetes.
Let’s start with nutrition. When dealing with diabetes, the key is nutrient rich, low fat and low calorie food. Basically, the diet that everyone should be eating. There is one more BIG thing that has been shown to be very effective in helping diabetics. Eating food that is low on the glycemic index is a great tool in the fight against diabetes. The lower the food falls on the scale, the less fluctuation it causes in your blood glucose levels. That means that your blood sugar stays more level throughout the day. Also, it helps you stay feeling full longer, and helps prevent cravings. While the optimal diet will consist largely of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, there is a product out there that can help you take your diet to the next level.
Shakeology, created by Beachbody, is a nutrient packed packed shake that has helped thousands of people lose weight, improve their overall health dramatically, and yes, people have even said that it has helped them reverse diabetes. Foods that are scored a 70 or higher in the glycemic index, which is mostly processed foods, cause rapid increases in your blood sugar and insulin levels. These foods lead to increased fat storage, more frequent hunger attacks, energy crashes, hypertension, fluid retention, and you guessed it, DIABETES!
Foods that are considered low, scoring under a 55, help fight heart disease, keep stable moods, keep you feeling satisfied longer after you eat, and again, you guessed, help fight diabetes.

SHAKEOLOGY SCORES A 24 ON THE GLYCEMIC INDEX!!!
It does not get get much better than that. Even apples are a 38, and oranges punch in at 42. Shakeology is a powerful, certified low glycemic tool in the fight to prevent or reverse diabetes.
Next, let’s take a look at the exercise aspect of fighting diabetes. First, why is exercise so important in your quest to prevent or reverse diabetes.
I will start by stating the obvious. Exercising on a regular bases is one of the biggest things that you can do to improve your body weight. Other than the obvious benefits, which is weight loss and improved cardio vascular health, what many people do not realize is that exercise can help more body become more sensitive to insulin, which helps regulate blood sugar. Add in the countless other benefits of exercise, whether you are looking to prevent or reverse diabetes, or just get into shape, exercise really is something that everyone should be doing.
So, why don’t more people exercise? Well, let’s look at the options. When most people think about exercising, they think they need to join a gym. There is a problem there. Most people do not know how to exercise properly. The ones that know they have no idea what they are doing are often too intimidated to go to the gym. They are self conscious. They do not want to be judged for their skill level, or their current fitness condition. Another group goes to the gym, but ends up wasting a lot of time doing who knows what, usually 1 or 2 exercises the entire time. Then you have the people that join the gym and hire a personal trainer. If you can afford this, good for you. Trainers can be very expensive, and often times they do not deliver results. There are so many personal trainer certifications out there, it is hard to tell who knows what they are talking about. Many of these trainers did a few quick online courses, and suddenly they are considered “certified”. Be careful who you pay to train you.

Personally, I am not a certified personal trainer. Instead of going through a few week or few month course, I went through 4 years of college to be a Physical Education teacher. While some people think that means I learned how to simply play and teach sports, they have obviously never seen the work load of a Phys Ed major. Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Nutrition, and much more. Having all of this education in the fitness field, along with my experience in a variety of sports, many people are surprised when I do not suggest to them going to the gym. I suggest to people looking to lose weight, prevent or reverse diabetes, working out at home. Most of us have seen an infomercial for P90X, Insanity, TurboFire, or 10 Minute Trainer. These are not your typical waste of money workout DVDs. These are all part of Beachbody, a company that is highly dedicated to helping fight the obesity and diabetes epidemics. These programs are designed by some of the most renowned trainers out there. They are scientifically developed for the purpose of getting you into the best shape of your life. Depending on your fitness level, some programs may be too intense.
